Welcome to La Coma
Just a few miles south of Haiti's north coast runs a dusty road connecting Port e Paix to Jean Rabel. A few miles east of Jean Rabel stretches a field of majestic Latanye trees. The leaves of these with leaves commonly used to make baskets from, serve as a gateway to the market-town of LaComa. Surrounding this town are communities of people who regularly make the journey from their homes into town to sell their wares, seek health care, pursue education, and just generally engage in community. The field of trees along the road is the site of a construction project. The project is to erect a building for the members of Lacoma Christian Church to worship in, attend school in, and generally engage in "Christian" community. From this beautiful plot of land, so perfectly positioned at the entrance of Lacoma, plans are being laid by Haitian Pastor Marc Walter to lead his congregation as they reach out to a town desperate for Christ.
